art share LA

yesterday...i attended miss eugenia's art class over at Art Share LA . located in downtown los angeles, art share's mission is to shape lives through art, education and community action. the center was so welcoming and everyone was extremely courteous. plenty of great works were on display from such talented artists including eugenia's. it was inspirational. i enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to going back when i get the chance. THANK YOU for having me and thank you for the wonderful tour around the city. i think what you do there is amazing.

ARTST, without the "i"

repost. but oh well, its fun and some people have amazing work. check it out: Pharrell's ARTST guild and gallery. i'm hoping to fill up my artst page with (hopefully) quality work this winter.

‘Something Big Something Small’ | Pharrell Williams

The New York Times Style Magazine sat down with Pharrell Williams recently for its ‘Something Big Something Small’ video series, where he talks about The Tank Chair collaboration with Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, currently showing in Art Basel Miami. This short clip gives a great insight on how the project came about, his inspirations and how he is giving opportunities for young artists to create, upload and share work on the web platform he has created, Artst Guild and Gallery. You can check out the video HERE.

city secrets

City Secrets Books & Movies

Think you've seen or read all the great books and films there are to digest? Think again. City Secrets Books & Movies ($14 each) are your guide to gems of cinema and literature that are mostly overlooked, compiled from recommendations given by some of the world's most well-respected minds on either subject, including Alec Wilkinson, Kenneth Turan, Marty Scorsese, and Sidney Lumet. Good luck finding copies of — and time to watch and read — all of them.

xmas tree.

my parents have been crazy as can be lately. we don't really celebrate christmas as a family anymore...so i was thinking about maybe getting this tree for my room this christmas. i think it'd be great. i'd wrap the base with a lil blue blanket like linus did too.

hilary duff

on the cover of NYLON magazine this month (well jan. 2010) is hilary duff. i just LOVE her and her style.

alicia keys

"The Element of Freedom" comes out Dec. 15th! but i don't know what edition to buy! sony's site has an "empire edition" for $15.99 that has a bonus 7 track cd that comes with it, itunes/target has a "deluxe edition" for $15.99 that comes w/ a dvd, and then there's a standard edition that gets released for $9.99.

warhol.

unfathomable. warhol's "eight elvises" just sold for a record $100 million in a private sale and earlier this month, warhol's "200 one dollar bills" auctioned for $43.8 million. i should use better words when speaking of art but man...that's just bananas.

ARTST

i've been looking at ARTSLANT and ARTST networks (kinda like a facebook for artists) lately and decided to join ARTST. its kind of neat to browse through other artists' works and get inspiration and to see the variety of styles while being able to share your work as well.
